The Silver/Gold Program is a comprehensive course for sailors 13-18 years of age who are interested in racing and have completed their Bronze Level V or equivalent. Any sailor who has not reached this level will be required to work towards its completion. The course, taught in single and double-handed boats including Laser Radial, Laser, and 420 class boats, is ideal for the avid racer. The 29er may be included, dependent on experience.
Topics include tactics and rules along with sail and boat tuning skills. The student will gain confidence in competitive sailing. Students are encouraged to set their own goals at the beginning of the season . The coach for the team is a CYA Orange level coach, able to certify up to the Gold standard . All sailors in this program are expected to participate in fleet race nights. The team will attend 3 regattas, finishing with CORK. This program requires weekend travel that demands a high level of commitment from both sailors and parents. Chaperoning, pulling trailers, and attendance at team meetings is required.

Message from the Coach!
It's Emily the race coach here. I'm the coach of the Silver/Gold team this summer.
I thought I'd give you a little bit of background about myself as a sailor/coach!
I started sailing with my parents at the age of 3 at our family cottage, and I pretty much haven't stopped since then! I started taking lessons at RHYC when I was 7, and have spent almost every summer down here. I raced my first regatta when I was 9 in the Optimist. Since then, I've raced in 6 different classes of boats, across 3 continents and 6 countries. Obviously, sailboat racing is a passion of mine! I still race now, when I can fit it in around my coaching schedule.
I am also a CYA certified coach. I have my Green, Blue, and Orange (level 3) instructor levels, which means I'm able to certify all CYA levels that are offered. This spring, I also achieved my Instructor Evaluator certification, which means I'm able to certify coaching levels as well.
